Patrick Swayze (RIP): 
Actor. Singer. Producer. Hip Hop Icon.


 Throughout the age of hip hop, Patrick Swayze's name has been used in countless classic songs, particularly as a reference to the word 'Ghost' (due to his role in the 1990 classic of the same name). This may be due to the fact that it conveniently  rhymes with 'crazy', however I choose to believe that it was more to do with Swayze's unwavering street credibility in the hood.


Below is a selection of all the great hip hop songs that we have been able to find that reference the man himself, with hits from the likes of Method Man, Biggie, 2pac, Pete Rock, EPMD and many more.


(We even included a bonus track at the end. Not strictly Hip Hop, but still a great reference.)

Now we love us a bit of poetry, but nothing could have prepared us for the absolute brilliance of this poem by spoken word artist Hollie McNish about how stupid Flo Rida's 'Whistle' truly is.
